Hello! I found this bump on my dogs groin area. She lets me touch it and doesn't react when I tried to clean the area with some warm water. Any idea what it is? Should we have our vet look at her?

It could be a small insect bite or minor skin infection, the rest of her skin looks pretty normal. Keep an eye on it, keep it clean with a warm damp washcloth and rub in a small amount of triple antibiotic ointment without steroid, as steroids slow healing. If it doesn't improve significantly in a few days, gets worse, spreads, or if she starts feeling sick or itching, get her an appointment with her vet.

The best next course of action if Rosita hasn't improved is to bring her to your vet for an exam. General lethargy can be a sign of almost anything in birds, so an exam is a good idea to narrow down the problem and get her started on treatment.

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths.

Does a large breed pup (Labrador in this case) necessarily need to be fed specifically large breed puppy food; or would a puppy food that is complete and balanced for large breed puppies and all life stages be okay? Cal and Pho is the same as the large breed specific food. Please see specific food I’m inquiring about in the photos. My dog doesn't seem to drink water. His water bowl is always stays filled and is hardly touched. I always give a fresh bowl in the morning when I give him his breakfast. Change the water again in the afternoon. Change the water again with his dinner and again before bedtime. In the afternoons, I sometimes will try to add ice cubes in the water or just give him ice cubes directly. Sometimes he will lick the ice cube a few times then stop. How can I get him to take more liquids? Thank you.

It is concerning that it appears that Nicco isn't drinking water, and it sounds like you are keeping an eye on the levels. I would recommend measuring out the water in the morning into the bowl, and then the next morning measuring the remaining water to get an exact amount of how much he is drinking. Normally a dog should drink between 8.5-17 ounces of water per 10 pounds. Nicco should be drinking around 17-34 ounces daily if we round his weight up to 20 pounds. Check to see if he is drinking this amount, and if he is, then he is getting enough water. To ensure he is getting enough water, you can try mixing in canned food with his dry food. Canned food has a higher moisture content, and that will get extra water into his food. You can soak his dry food in warm water, or occasionally add in some low sodium beef or chicken broth. Finally, you can get Nicco a pet water fountain. These provide a continual source of fresh water for him, and dogs love drinking from them. I have one, and my pets love it. Given that this in only happening at night, I would suspect Hero is having dreams that are upsetting her and she is running into your room for comfort. Dogs do dream and can reach to those dreams. Unfortunately there's nothing you can do to stop her from dreaming, but there will be nights where she doesn't dream and sleeps peacefully. I hope this helps!
