The Algae King Koopa Snail is a great addition to help keep decaying plants and algae at a minimum in community and planted aquariums. They are a peaceful snail that will not bother other snails, fish or plants. They are considered to be an exceptional consumer of algae and cyanobacteria. Algae King Koopa Snail are hardy in a mature, stable, well-maintained aquarium. While this snail can live in a wide variety of pH levels, it will live for much longer in alkaline water of over 7.0 pH. If it is kept in acidic water, it is more prone to experience shell erosion. This snail mostly relies on biofilm and algae as their food source, but if that becomes scarce be sure to supplement their diet with spirulina-based foods.
