A great fish for smaller sized aquariums is the Aquacultured Banggai Cardinal. These cultured fish are an especially great fit for smaller reef style fish tanks, as they have a long history of not bothering inverts. They do best in groups, with at least 2 feedings a day. These will take all sorts of frozen foods and most types of pelletized/flaked foods right after they are acclimated. These cardinals are mouth brooder and the males will hold the fry in their mouth. Add into aquarium with Black Long Spine Urchins for a beautiful display. In the wild they are known to hide within the spines. The Banggai Cardinal have a small adult size of 3" and have a very detailed appearance. Their bodies are predominantly a silver/white with three vertical stripes that extend into their fins. Then this cardinal is littered with bright white spots. They are found within the Western Pacific around Banggai Islands inhabiting around urchins and seagrass up to 16 meters deep.

ACCLIMATION: Avoid exposing new aquatic life to bright lights after opening the box. Turn off aquarium lights prior to floating aquatic life. Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. A bacteria booster addition can assist with the addition of new aquatic life. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe for the addition of new aquatic life. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried and frozen foods, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller aquariums.
