Brittle Stars are one of the hobby's best detritus eaters and sand aerators. Their ability to get into nooks and crannies allows them to consume much of the food and fish waste that accumulates there. Their legs are covered in small spines that they use to aid in finding food. These spines will not harm you but still always use caution when handling. Add these into an aquarium with plenty of live rock to hide in during the day, and they will come out at night to do clean up. Even though these sea stars are excellent scavengers, their diet should be supplemented with finely chopped meaty items.

  • Add to an aquarium with ample rockwork and deep sandy substrate
