Black Moor Goldfish 2-3"
Goldfish have been bred to bring out beautiful colors and unusual characteristics. Goldfish are hardy coldwater fish that require no extra heating to survive. The Black Moor is black in overall coloration with metallic scales.
Black Moor Goldfish (Carassius auratus)
With its metallic black scales and telescope eyes, the black moor goldfish can be a distinctive addition to any aquarium or pond. They have an egg-shaped body that is rounder than a typical goldfish, as well as larger and more flowy fins. They are a black-and-gold fish that often has gold or orange accents on the belly and fins, although each individual has natural variations. With these unique traits, the black moor fish is considered a “fancy” goldfish and is a popular addition to large aquariums and ponds.
This freshwater fish requires at least a 20-gallon aquarium to live comfortably, as the full-grown black moor goldfish size can be up to 8-inches in length. For each additional similarly sized fish, add another 10-gallons in tank size. Its body shape and flowy fins make it a slower swimmer than many other fish of its size, so be sure to choose complementary aquarium or pond fish that are not highly competitive in nature.
When given a chance, the black moor goldfish will eat just about any pellet or flake offered, but fish keepers should be sure to feed freshwater food with the appropriate food to help prevent swim bladder problems. With basic tank care and proper feeding, black moor goldfish can be hardy and commonly live 10 years or more.
