Chocolate Chip Sea Star
The Chocolate Chip Sea Stars are eye catching and hardy, but they get overlooked a lot because of the niche they live in. They will eat just about anything, including other starfish, corals, clams, etc. Because of their diet, this sea star is definitely not reef safe. Like all sea stars, they could become a meal for fish that are so inclined like some wrasses and puffers. Drip acclimation is always recommended for inverts and this sea star is not an exception, as they are very susceptible to sudden shifts in salinity and pH. They should never be exposed to copper-based medications or air while handling. Even though the Chocolate Chip Sea Star is a scavenger, be sure to supplement their diet with meaty frozen (thawed) foods.
