Desjardinii Sailfin Tang
Tangs are commonly referred to as surgeon fish due to having a sharp spine that looks like a "scalpel" at the base of their caudal (tail) fin that is used for protection, use caution when handling. The Desjardinii Sailfin Tang can grow to be over a foot in size, so they will need substantial swimming room. Full grown adults of this tang will need around 180 gallons; however, you can get away with smaller aquariums when they are juveniles. Adults can be found in small groups in lagoons and seaward reefs from the low surge zone to about 30 meters deep. Juveniles are usually found solitary in sheltered inner reefs for protection. They are found within the Indian Ocean. The Sailfin Tang is decorated with broad yellow stripes that are alternated with dark brown and white. Then they are littered with different colored freckles.
