Dilectus Dottyback
The Dilectus Dottyback sports the prettiest shades of orange, purple and red. This Dottyback is very territorial towards other fish and invertebrates, even when their size is greater than the Dottyback's. Due to this aggression, it is recommended that the Dilectus Dottyback be housed singly. They prefer an environment that has a great deal of live rock to hide in, however, the live rock can bring out their aggression because they become territorial of their hidden dwelling. Providing a well varied diet of meaty foods will enhance the health of the Dottyback, while also deterring them from eating the cleaner shrimp. They are known to help control bristleworm populations in aquariums, which is very beneficial. This Dottyback has an adult size of only 3", which makes them ideal for smaller aquariums. They are found in the Western Indian Ocean within the rocks of reefs.
