Developed specifically for maintaining a healthy aquatic ecosystem, the EcoBio-Block EcoBio Stone is an effective and beneficial tool in minimizing aquarium maintenance. Easy to use, these EcoBio-Block Stones are made from volcanic rocks and cement and serve as an effective aquarium cloudy water fix. They contain live beneficial bacteria that live and multiply in these stones in addition to nutrients that help to create and promote a healthy ecosystem and aquatic habitat. Serving as a great source of beneficial bacteria for aquarium water, these stones contain bacteria that begin to propagate upon immersion in freshwater or salt water and disperse about every 30 minutes into the aquarium. As the bacteria colonize, they feed on organic waste, breaking down the waste into ammonia and then into nitrates, which eventually break down into nitrogen gas through interaction with anaerobic bacteria in the tank, dissipating into the air. This process clarifies and revitalizes cloudy water, eliminates odors and creates a healthy and safe environment for fish and other aquatic life. In addition, this volcanic rock leeches essential calcium and trace minerals back into the water. This process, which occurs in nature, reduces the need for maintenance and water changes by continually keeping a sufficient number of bacteria in the tank to create a perfect ecosystem.
