Gobies are an excellent addition to reef aquariums as they have a small adult size and a lot of personality. The Engineer Goby is a very unique fish. Their body markings will change throughout their life. As they grow their horizontal stripes will become vertical. They move similarly to an eel by wiggling their whole body. Provide an environment with peaceful tank mates, hiding places and a few inches of sandy substrate so they can burrow. They tend to do better in pairs or groups, but be sure to add them simultaneously. Provide a mixed meaty diet and feed twice a day. Be aware the Engineer Goby might snack on any ornamental shrimps or small fish if hungry enough, which is why it is recommended to feed more than once daily.

  • Needs peaceful tankmates
  • For continued health, provide a varied diet of marine meaty foods and should be fed twice daily
  • Reef safe
  • Add to an aquarium with ample rockwork for grazing/hiding and a deep sand bed
  • Do best housed in a group, but need to be added simultaneously
