Exquisite Firefish Goby
For the hobbyist looking for a very active, hardy, and brightly colored fish then look no further than the Exquisite Firefish. These fish are very skittish and shouldn't be housed with aggressive species. They are known to jump when startled, so be sure to house them in a covered aquarium. This small fish of 3" is full of personality and will make a great addition to smaller aquariums down to 30 gallons or so. Use caution if adding more than one, unless it is a very large aquarium. They will pick at algae within the aquarium, but that cannot be considered their diet. Provide them a mix of meaty foods, and they will generally accept pelletized food after a few days. They can be territorial to other dartfish and bottom dwellers. They have a pearly white body with a purple and yellow head. Their fins are purple, red, and yellow. The Exquisite Firefish are found in the deep waters of the Indian Ocean hovering over the substrate.
