Flameback Angelfish
Centropyge angels have forever been a favorite with hobbyists due to their smaller adult size, colorations and hardiness. A spectacular choice as far as angels for smaller aquariums go is the Flameback Angel. These have a unique, very stark coloration of yellow and blue, and a small adult size of about 3" allowing hobbyists to have that angel personality in a 50-gallon tank. Like any other dwarf angel, they can be aggressive with other small angels and similarly shaped/colored fish. The angels that we classify as the "pygmies" (these, Cherubs, Aurantius) are among the least safe in stony coral and clam tanks, but all should be low risk in most soft coral settings. Adults inhabit near areas of coral rubble in small groups up to 40 meters deep. Their natural range includes the Western Indian Ocean and off East Africa.
