This easy-to-use kit includes test solutions, instructions, test vial, and a color-coded chart to identify changes in calcium levels from 20 to 520 ppm. Calcium in reef aquariums can fluctuate due to absorption by corals and invertebrates. Keep in mind that carbonate hardness (KH or alkalinity) is necessary for coral growth. Many reef inhabitants depend on the combination of calcium, carbonate and bicarbonate to build skeletal structure by absorbing these elements from saltwater. Use high-quality saltwater in small, more frequent changes to help replenish calcium levels. Testing water parameters on a regular basis is important to understand the health of the environment.
