Majestic Blue Girdled Angelfish
Angelfish come in a large array of colors, patterns and sizes that make them very appealing to all levels of hobbyists. The Blue Girdled Angels are very hardy and will do quite well in the home aquarium as long as they have sufficient space and a balanced diet. They generally feed on a wide variety of algae, sponges, soft corals and other organisms, which is why they are not recommended for reef aquariums. Even though they are categorized as a large angelfish they have a typical maximum size of 9". Full grown adults of this angel will need around 180 gallons; however, you can get away with smaller aquariums when they are juveniles. Like most large angelfish the Blue Girdled will go through a complete transformation from juvenile to adult. As a juvenile, they are mostly dark blue with thin neon blue vertical stripes. However, as an adult their coloration will remain dark blue but with a great deal more yellow and thicker stripes.
