Longspine Cardinal
The Longspine Cardinal is a great, nonaggressive schooling fish to add to your aquarium. They very much like aquariums with caves, plants and urchins that can act as a place to hide in. This species is nocturnal and will be the most active when the lights are off on the aquarium. Since this species is so timid, be sure to add only peaceful tank mates to prevent this cardinal from getting picked on. The Longspine Cardinal is very hardy and reef safe, which makes them an ideal suggestion for the any hobbyist. They are not picky eaters and will eat just about anything that is offered, but be sure to offer a variety of meaty foods. Their small adult size of about 2.5" makes them ideal for smaller aquariums. However, groups will require larger aquariums. The Longspine Cardinal has a long slender body with an almost transparent coloration with markings of blue and yellow. They are found within the Indo-Pacific in dense aggregations inhabiting turbid bays and lagoons.
