Male Red Lyretail Anthias
Red Lyretail Anthias are brightly colored and make an exquisite display when added in a group. The female Orange Lyretail Anthias can be added in groups of at least three, but they do much better in a harem size of 6 or 9. Usually, one in the group will morph into a male, but a male Red Yellow Breast Lyretail can be added for every 4 or 5 females, which gives a much more completed look and saves the fish a dominance struggle. The females are predominately orange in color with yellow in their fins. They have a pinkish purple stripe that goes from their eye to their pectoral fins. The males are predominately red and purple in color with vibrant red and yellow in the fins. The males also have an elongated dorsal fin, which helps with identifying. They have a red stripe that goes from their eyes to their pectoral fins. The males also have a bright yellow color on their breast. The Lyretail Anthias has a maximum size of about 5" and will need a substantial amount of swimming room.
