Nightcrawlers (Lumbricus terrestris), Count of 12

Nightcrawlers are earthworms found in the soil in cool, damp climates. They’re popular fishing worms and also make great frog, salamander or turtle food. While you might think you can find and catch your own—or even breed them—it’s much more convenient to buy live worms from Petco.

Your nightcrawlers will arrive in a styrofoam tub. You’ll want to store them in a cool, dry place and can even keep them in your refrigerator to help them stay fresh longer. When feeding your pet, don’t just drop nightcrawlers into turtle tanks and terrariums. It’s recommended to provide them to your pet with tongs to make sure they’re able to catch them—these worms love to burrow, and your pet may not be able to find them once they are deep within reptile substrate and bedding.

There are several types of nightcrawlers, but they’re typically split into Canadian and European varieties. Your order will contain 12 Lumbricus terrestris worms, which are red-colored and native to Western Europe. They can grow up to 10 inches in nature, and your order should arrive fat and hearty.

Live bait can make your reptile or amphibian full, happy and ready for a relaxing rest under turtle basking lamps. And while nightcrawlers are part of a balanced diet, don’t forget other must-have supplies—like reptile cleanup and odor control—to help keep your pet content. You can find everything you need online. We’ll even ship live worms right to your door for your convenience.
