Panamic Barnacle Blenny
The Panamic Barnacle Blenny is a unique fish with striking colors and personality to match. This fish is enjoyable to watch since they are extremely fast and will leave the safety of their crevice to snag some food. This hardy fish is relatively peaceful and active, but like other blennies, the Panamic Barnacle Blenny will not be peaceful if a tank mate looks like a blenny. It is recommended that only one blenny be kept in an aquarium unless it is a mated pair. This fish does best in well-established aquariums with plenty of rockwork and hiding places. Their small adult size of about 2" makes them ideal for smaller aquariums. They have red lips, red eyes and red near their pectoral fins. Many people get these confused with the Mexican Barnacle Blenny, but the big difference is that the Panamic Barnacle has a large spot behind its ear. The Panamic Barnacle Blenny are found in El Salvador to Ecuador inhabiting rocks, barnacles, and worm tubes in reefs up to 5 meters deep.
