Pinstriped Wrasse
The Pinstriped Wrasse is a hardy, active and useful fish. This wrasse prefers to be added to aquariums with a sandy substrate and lots of rockwork. This wrasse likes to submerge itself in the sand when frightened or to sleep. Feeding them multiple times a day is recommended as they are very active and keeping them full will help keep them away from desirable inverts. In addition, they are known predators of a myriad of unwanted pests like fireworms and pyramidellid snails. They are even known to pick parasites off other fish! As with other wrasses, they are capable jumpers at all stages of their life, so a covered aquarium is necessary. They have an adult size of about 5". This wrasse is a great choice for reef aquariums because they will not bother corals/anemones but if they get hungry enough, they may go after shrimps and snails. The Pinstriped Melanurus Wrasse is blue and green with pink and yellow horizontal stripes.
