Powder Blue Discus
The Powder Blue Discus is truly beautiful with their bright blue colors, graceful movements, and complex social behaviors, which make them one of the most stunning and rewarding species to keep in a freshwater aquarium. Discus is considered a more difficult species to keep due to the water parameters they need to be kept in. Discus are highly sensitive to water quality, so regular water changes of 25-50% weekly is recommended to keep ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels in check. A well-established biological filtration system is essential. Provide a well-planted aquarium with driftwood, tall plants, and open swimming areas. The tank should mimic their natural habitat with subdued lighting and soft, acidic water. For continued health provide a varied diet of black worms, blood worms and discus pellets. Suitable tankmates include other peaceful, slow-moving species that thrive in warm, soft water. Avoid fast or aggressive species that might outcompete Discus for food or cause stress.
