Powder Brown Tang
Tangs are commonly referred to as surgeon fish due to having a sharp spine that looks like a "scalpel" at the base of their caudal (tail) fin that is used for protection, use caution when handling. Adults tend to live alone in the wild, so they should not be kept with fish that look similar, like other tangs. However, they should be peaceful towards most other tank mates. Adult Powder Brown Tangs are found in clear lagoons and seaward reefs up to 20 meters deep in the Indo-West Pacific. Adults tend to be found singly while juveniles occur in small to large groups. They will grow to be about 8" in size and have a broad white band extending from their eye to upper lip. Their fins are dark brown with blue colorations outlining them. Then they have a yellow boarder on their body, which gives them a drastic look. Full grown adults of this tang will need around 100 gallons; however, you can get away with smaller aquariums when they are juveniles.
