Purple Stripe Dottyback
The Purple Stripe Dottyback is primary yellow with one lavender colored stripe running horizontally. This dottyback is very territorial towards other fish and invertebrates, even when their size is greater than the dottyback's. Due to this aggression, it is recommended that the Purple Stripe Dottyback be housed singly. They prefer an environment that has a great deal of live rock to hide in, however, the live rock can bring out their aggression because they become territorial of their hidden dwelling. Providing a well varied diet of meaty foods will enhance the health of the dottyback, while also deterring them from eating the cleaner shrimp. This dottyback has an adult size of only 3", which makes them ideal for smaller aquariums. They are found in the Western Central Pacific within coral rich sheltered reefs up to 30 meters deep. Small groups can be seen poking out of holes and crevices.
