Quaker (or Monk) Parakeets are beautiful and intelligent birds. They come in a variety of colors and are larger than the typical Parakeet. The term Parakeet is actually a descriptive term for the body type of these parrots.

  • Provide foraging toys, which provide important mental stimulation
  • Can be kept alone to bond with pet parent or in pairs to bond with each other. Different types of birds should not be housed together
  • Birds should be socialized daily by the pet parent
  • Need activities, such as swinging and climbing, to keep them busy
  • Bond to their pet parents and require several hours of attention a day
  • Quakers thrive on human interaction and are quick to mimic sounds and words
  • Naturally take naps during the day, so a quiet place with a dim light is ideal
