Red Oranda Goldfish
Goldfish are a great starter fish to recommend for ponds and aquariums. The Red Oranda Goldfish has a reddish-orange color with metallic scales. The fins are known to have white or black on the tips. This species is frequently depicted as the "common" goldfish. They can be distinguished by their large "hood" that covers their head. They are very hardy and will eat just about anything that is fed to them. Like most goldfish, the Red Oranda will get quite large and will need a large aquarium or pond when full grown. They are considered diggers, so use caution when adding plants because they can get uprooted. They will eat just about any pellet or flake that you offer, however, be sure the food has vegetable foods in it. Freshwater food with vegetables will help prevent swim bladder problems.
