Red Racer Nerite Snail
The Red Racer Nerite Snail is a great addition to help keep uneaten food and algae at a minimum in community and planted aquariums. They are a peaceful snail that will not bother other snails, fish or plants. They only reproduce in brackish water, so you do not have to worry about them taking over your aquarium. Like many other snails the Nerite Snail does not have a very long life span. This snail mostly relies of on detritus and algae as their food source, but if that becomes scarce be sure to supplement their diet with sinking pellets. Utilizing decorations like rocks and driftwood that don't get cleaned or not cleaning the algae off a wall of the tank is an excellent way to get them the food they need. This feeding benefit/requirement means you should be somewhat careful about over stocking Red Racers, especially in aquariums where other effective algae eaters live. We recommend around 3 per 10 gallons of display.
