The Shaving Brush Plant is a great recommendation for anybody looking for saltwater "plants." This beneficial macroalgae is very hardy and will act as a beautiful decorative plant while controlling excess nutrients, like nitrates and phosphates, and providing oxygen, which in turn stabilizes the pH. Because different kinds of algae will sometimes chemically compete with each other, you may not want to put more than one type of algae within an aquarium. Feel free to place them just about anywhere in the aquarium, though they will respond best to moderate lighting and can acclimate to very bright light slowly. Most herbivorous fish and invertebrates will not commonly consume this plant.
