White & Red Discus
The White & Red Discus are one of the most stunning and rewarding species to keep in a freshwater aquarium. Their vibrant red bodies, translucent fins, graceful movements, and complex social behaviors make them a centerpiece of any tank. Discus is a more difficult species to keep due to their sensitivity to water quality, so maintaining pristine conditions is crucial. Regular water changes of 25-50% weekly is recommended to keep ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels in check. A well-established biological filtration system is essential. Provide an aquarium with driftwood, tall plants, and open swimming areas. The tank should mimic their natural habitat with subdued lighting and soft, acidic water. To feed, provide a varied diet of black worms, blood worms and discus pellets. Suitable tankmates include other peaceful, slow-moving species that thrive in warm, soft water. Avoid fast or aggressive species that might outcompete Discus for food or cause stress.
