Zoo Med Hydroballs
If you have a lizard friend or another reptile in the house, you’ll want to create the most comfortable habitat for them to enjoy. To do that, you’ll need reptile substrate and bedding. Zoo Med Hydroballs are lightweight clay balls that can be used as a base layer beneath coconut fiber substrate or another substrate to create an underground water table. Not only are these clay balls designed to support your other foundational material, but they can be great for terrariums that require a water feature or need a lot of humidity.
Mixing water and Hydroballs creates a natural aquifer—it’s science. When you add water to your Zoo Med hydroponic clay balls, the humidity goes up in your terrarium. A humid environment can often be ideal for tropical species and may help both your live plants and reptiles thrive. If you want to add a waterfall, just install a vertical water pump to the Hydroballs layer of your terrarium and create a waterfall that uses the clay balls as a water filtration system.
Creating a naturalistic terrarium is a lot easier with clay hydroponic balls. They can act as a great base layer for other sustainable fibers. Plus, they’re made to be compatible with water to increase humidity and aid water features. Zoo Med’s clay balls for terrarium provide 2.5 lbs. of material—enough to fill an average small terrarium for a lizard, frog or other reptile or amphibian.
